Wow, what a ride! I think all of the year 13’s can say that the four years leading up to 2015 have absolutely flown by. Before we knew it, were faced with Year 13 Camp at Riverbend, which seems to have been a way of entertaining us, connecting us as a year level, and of course some embarrassment to it. Old friendships were sealed, and new ones were formed as we battled it out in an effort to show we stepped up and out of our comfort zone. We have all learnt a lot about ourselves, and each other over the yearrealizing capabilities, strengths, in academics, cultural, sporting, and last but not least, socially. This year has been a bit of a rollercoaster, with what seems now like an endless amount of dates etched into our brains. Our first optional event which a large number of our school took part in, Relay for Life, supporting cancer patients, we’re sure will never be forgotten. It was a test of perseverance, and most definitely mental strength in the early hours of the morning, especially between 4am-6am. With such a long period of time being spent at the Hastings Sports Park, it was hard not to become closer as a school group. The School Ball in May proved to be a successful night, thanks to the great work of the Services Committee, lead by Millie Burns and Andrew Breen. It was a memorable event for the senior students, letting us enjoy our last school ball before we began preparing for the pressures of the NCEA exams ahead. Our major house events, Swimming Sports and Athletics, were our first real sights of the spirit within all the houses. The atmosphere was incredible, with an endless amount of support for all of the participants in each event! A big shout out goes to our Year 13 year group- our House Leaders, Committee Leaders and members, co-Forum members, as well as each and every one of you who have contributed to making 2015 such a successful and special year. Finally, to the teaching staff, a huge thanks is needed for all of your constant support for all of the pupils of the school. We hope that everyone has had as much fun as we have throughout the year and will take a lot of fond memories from it. Thanks to you all and here’s wishing you the best for the years ahead!
