Iridescent Wings
Ever since I was young, I watched hummingbirds from my
kitchen window every spring as they came for the sugar water
my mother placed in a feeder for them. Hummingbirds have
always been one of my favorite animals, but I am always in
awe of their ferocity and protectiveness of their territory.
Hummingbirds can often frighten off other hummingbirds and
even ravens and crows, birds three times larger than
themselves, when protecting their family or food. Their
strength is amazing and shows just how powerful and
essential wildlife and nature is to our world.
