What will be become?
This island’s all I know
Sea levels rising
We’ve nowhere to go
Dad says he won’t leave
Bound to his culture
We tried really hard
The water won’t stop
What did we do wrong?
The birds have all gone
It’s just not the same
Without all their songs
Why should we be good?
Chaos takes over
I did the best I could
Homeless in my land
I hate all the crime
The encroaching sand
Stealing and riots
We don’t deserve this

I have no money, no job, no friend
Every night in a different alley
Contemplating bringing life to an end
A whole culture drowned
I’m the last to go

I pray every day
Doesn’t change a thing
Things keep getting worse
Worsening disease
Disease is a curse
The doctors all left
We should do the same
This is where I’m from
So where will we go?
What will we become?

I am a true shame
I’ve nothing to show
Lost is what we became

My neighbor took me to the city
All of the buildings here touch the sky
God still hasn’t answered my prayers
He won’t tell me how or even why
I lost my faith a long time ago
I speak a different language than them
