Children of Jesus From where Comes My Help? Casa Hogar Orphanage Due to the change of the social values and moral corruption of Peru, there are many unavoidable stories of children who had to come to the orphanage. The surge in the divorce rate these days result in an increase in the number of orphans, and there have been many orphans coming from incestuous pregnancies. According to the Peru government in 2015, the report shows that the number of orphans is about 18,000. But there are many more orphans who are wndering in the streets or living with relatives or friends. The government has been emphasizing through public service advertisementS and public relations that the children’s rights ought to be respected and protected, but in reality, it is quite the opposite. For example, when there is a report to the government about the parents of the family being incapable of taking care of the children, the government commissioner immediately separates the children from the parents and sends them to a protective facility without giving the parents any time or opportunity to improve their situation. In order to bring the children back home through the legal procedures, it takes so much effort and money that in reality, the general families cannot afford and thus the parents are forced to send their children to the orphanage. At first, Casa Hogar had only 4 orphans in Arequipa; However, due to the changes in society, the number of children has increased to 42. There is “Cup of Milk” that the Peru Government is providing as the meal assistant to the orphanages. Still, one must show the correct birth certificate and identification of a child in order to receive that benefit. However, most of the children who come to the orphanage are generally orphaned in their early age and often do not know their own names and possess their own ID or birth certificate. Even the children who have all these documents, only receive 6 lbs of oatmeal monthly from the government. But not all the children receive these benefits. There are no medical, dental or psychological benefits.
