What is Baltimore Corps?
Baltimore Corps is a fellowship program that connects
social minded leaders with nonprofits in Baltimore
Tasks:
• Analyzed Visionary Change Leader (VCL) data from
the last Fellowship cycle
• Linked TeamUp calendar with our Salesforce portal
Researched grants for additional Visionary Cause
Leaders to help them find funding for a Fellow this
upcoming Fellowship cycle
• Worked on special projects relating to Fellowship
Class 2 including, but not limited to orientation,
research projects, and Salesforce communities
Being able to spend a summer working at Baltimore Corps
has truly been a gift. From my first day, I was given the
ability to tailor my time with Baltimore Corps to fit my
interests and skills. I was encouraged to pursue projects
that wouldn’t just help the organization but would help
me sharpen my skills as well. I am thankful to have been
able to hone my analytical abilities while also broadening
my horizons. Before I even began work, one of my
coworkers said something that has stuck with me, “Just
because we’re a nonprofit doesn’t mean we can’t operate
like a corporate entity with regards to the efficiency of our
business models and processes.” Baltimore Corps’ ability
to harness the power of technology to scale the impact of
not just Baltimore Corps, but other nonprofits across the
city has floored me. Though I have gained many skills
from my time with this new start‐up, one of the most
important realizations for me has been that working
smarter, rather than harder, is what will ultimately create
lasting and sustainable organizations that change the
landscape of Baltimore. This lesson is especially valuable
now, as I get ready for another year at Hopkins and begin
to lead and restructure organizations of my own.
