Girls’ Basketball
Having always being fascinated by the cooperative atmosphere of taking part in a faultless, and an outstanding
Basketball Tournament helped me to keep my team- spirit up as we were stepping into our adrenaline-charged journey.
The families who have hosted us full of trustworthiness and the sincerity made us feel like home which helped us to
avoid the homesickness that would possibly happen for most of us. Waking up with the feel of determination and the
persistence which are the true-keys to succeed in the right way, walking down to Istanbul International Community
School and imagining first place are one of the sensations that every single person on Earth, either an athlete or
not, has to be taste. Under the leadership of IICS which had organized this CEESA High School basketball tournament
we began our journey. After the great greeting, and inaugural speech of their coach we played our first match. As
the phrase goes, we were pretty locked in defensively on the game, and we were racing with the speed of the light
since we have been coached by such an enthusiastic, and a supportive teacher, Mr. Goldfinger. Passion, teamwork,
and most importantly defense
lead us to victory. Having said the
phrase, “Offense wins the game but
defense wins Championships” which
completely once again highlights
what we have done. We also had the
opportunity to become friends with
the competition that came from all
parts of the world. Therefore it is
quite plausible to indicate that this
trip was more than sports; it was an
education which builds each one of
us up in terms of being socialized and
culturally interactive people. This trip
was amazing and it is great to be a
Champion.
