Elementary TK-5
Munck is a diverse learning community located in the
Oakland Hills. Currently an Arts Anchor School, this grant
supports our students’ natural creative talents, which
led to the creation and completion of three school-wide
murals, digital media, and provides various performing
arts opportunities throughout the school year. We offer
on-site library services, a technology media center, a
dedicated science room, physical education, art instruction,
instrumental music (fourth and fifth grades with song flutes
for third graders), and a wealth of other cultural activities.
An active PTA and Dad’s Club aligns itself with the school’s
vision to provide fundraisers, programs and activities such
as the Annual Walk-a-thon, Fall Harvest Dance, Valentine
Dinner Dance, Silent Auction, and Family Fun Day. The PTA
coordinates room parents, a store organized to provide
incentives for good citizenship, attendance and other
related behaviors, and maintains the school website. This
organization provides the funding source for two parttime library assistants. The Carl B. Munck Learning for Life
Afterschool Program is closely aligned to the school day
program, partially funded by Prop 49 and OFCY grant funds,
and provides homework/tutoring assistance, computers,
drama, dance, chess club, arts and crafts, gardening,
leadership, respect and responsibility, sports, physical
education and other enrichment opportunities. Family
Reading, Science, and Math Nights and parent workshops are
held in partnership with he afterschool program.
