We are a fully accredited, college preparatory high school. With a foundation in Oakland’s historic struggles for civil rights and racial justice, we provide a quality education with a focus on social justice and personal empowerment. Our curriculum fulfils the requirements to enter a four-year university. This curriculum is based in social justice, critical thinking, and active learning. In addition to college and career preparation, we offer ethnic studies, visual and performing arts, and opportunities for social and political activism. Our small classes average 20 students. Our unique Counselor/Teacher/Mentor program provides each student with a faculty member who provides daily assistance and guidance, keeping in close touch with the student’s family. Our 12 week trimesters and afternoon programs provide opportunities for credit recovery and accelerated learning. Core academic classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm; a wide variety of electives are offered on Wednesdays and each afternoon between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Electives at our school include Urban Art, sailing, gardening and community service. www.ousd.k12.ca.us School Uniform Description No uniforms.
