under Tim and Rachel Garrison. A three-time Junior
Olympic National qualifier, McConkey finished second
(2009), fifth (2010) and third (2011) in the Region
IV all-around competition. She also competed at the
Kansas City Pink Ribbon Invitational in 2011, finishing
first on bars (9.575), third on floor (9.55) and fourth on
beam (9.45).
PERSONAL
A Lincoln, Neb. native, McConkey was born Sept.
16, 1994 to Mick and Cookie McConkey. She has a
sister, Markie, and a brother, Mickey. She was a 2012
graduate of Pius X High School and is a nutrition,
exercise and heath sciences major at Nebraska.
Madison McConkey is ready to make a run at the NU
lineups after using her first season to adjust to a higher
level of gymnastics. McConkey has the ability to break
into several Husker lineups.
“She has been working harder than ever,” Nebraska
Coach Dan Kendig said. “Her beam and bar performances
are getting stronger, and if she keeps being consistent,
she is in the conversation about making some lineups.”

McConkey took the 2013 season to adjust to the
competition level of collegiate gymnastics. She got off
to a solid start in the classroom by claiming spots on
the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and
spring semesters of 2012-13.

Jordyn Beck will look to break into the lineup on
several events for the Huskers this season after sitting
out last year due to injury. Beck’s strengths are on bars,
and in the all-around.
“Coming off an injury she has been working really
hard with bars especially,” Nebraska Coach Dan Kendig
said. “She is in the conversation for making lineups
on bars as well as beam if she stays consistent. Her
confidence has to get up, but that will come with time.”
2013 • FRESHMAN SEASON
Beck suffered a season-ending injury prior to the
start of 2013.
BEFORE NEBRASKA
Beck joined the Huskers after training with
McCracken’s Gymnastics under coaches Mary
McDaniel, Amber McCracken and Sarah Haase. Beck
is a three-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier,
finishing in a tie for sixth on bars in 2011 and third on
bars and eighth in the all-around in 2008. Beck also
qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals in 2011 after
finishing second on beam at the Region III qualifying
meet and adding a fourth-place finish on bars. An
international elite level gymnast, Beck won a total of
15 state event and all-around titles in Kansas.
She chose Nebraska over Arkansas, Washington,
Missouri and Kentucky.
PERSONAL
Beck was born June 12, 1994 in Overland Park, Kan.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Dawn Beck and has
a brother, Austin and a sister, Mackenzi. Beck was a
four-year honor roll member at Blue Valley West in
Overland Park and was also a National Honor Society
and Spanish National Honor Society member. She
is a nutrition, health and exercise sciences major at
Nebraska.
