HONORS AND AWARDS 2014 • SEASON OUTLOOK Hollie Blanske (pronounced Blann-Skee) will look to be a big-time contributor in all four events for the Huskers this season. Blanske is coming off a strong freshman campaign and will be returning as one of NU’s top vaulters. “She knows what is expected from her,” Nebraska Coach Dan Kendig said. “I think because of all her experience especially from last year, we are going to see an even better year from her. She works so hard and does not complain, gets after it and gets things done.” 2013 • FRESHMAN SEASON Blanske battled back from an offseason knee injury to become a solid three-event competitor for the Huskers in her first season. Blanske came on strong late in the season for Nebraska, posting or tying career-bests on all three events during the month of March. She was a crucial part of Nebraska’s Big Ten Championship-winning efforts, finishing in a tie for sixth on floor (9.90) and earning a share of the Big Ten title on vault (9.95). Blanske finished the 2013 season with a trio of individual titles, including two on vault and one on floor. She notched a fourth-place finish on vault at the NCAA Morgantown Regional, posting a 9.925 behind only teammates Jessie DeZiel, Emily Wong, and Brittany Skinner. BEFORE NEBRASKA •Region IV Co-Regional Gymnast of the Year (2011) Blanske comes to Nebraska after competing under coaches Mike Hunger, Sami Wozney, Sarah Jantzi and Rich Stenger at Twin City Twisters alongside fellow Husker Jessie DeZiel. Blanske is a four-time Junior Olympic National qualifier and was a Junior Olympic National Team Member in 2010 and 2011. She was a 2011 Junior Olympic National all-around champion, posting a score of 38.450. She was also a national champion on bars (9.625) and floor (9.775) in 2011. Blanske has captured three regional titles and was the 2011 Region IV Co-Regional Gymnast of the Year. She has two brothers, Brent and Bo and one sister, Jamie. A native of Oak Grove, Minn., Blanske was a threeyear honor roll selection at St. Francis Senior High School and graduated with honors. She is a business marketing major at Nebraska.
