My end of the year trip was to Colorado and it was absolutely AMAZING!!! On the way up there we toured Texas Tech which was good for me because that is another college I will be applying to in the fall. It was a beautiful campus and a rather large one at that. After the tour we went through New Mexico to Colorado. The mountains were gorgeous, the air was so clear and not sticky, and the landscape was phenomenal. Being in Colorado was like being in a dream that felt very realistic. In the hotel in Colorado Springs I was roomed with Jasmine Balboa, Brianna Calderon, and Coraima Ramos. They are a fun bunch but confusing when they are speaking in Spanish and I don’ t understand them. The second day we went to the Air Force academy. It was amazing; not amazing enough for me to want to go their but enough for me to have even more respect than I originally did for anyone who is in the Air Force. Later we went to the Garden of The Gods. It was a ride on the bus through the mountains. I got to climb on rocks and see deer. I had so much fun, it was just amazing. The scenery was breathtaking and it made me want to live there. After that we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I saw giraffes which now by my crazy friends whom I love have called them my ancestors. I also fed my ancestors. Then I saw an elephant playing with a ball that had a hole cut out of it so it could have food. It was so smart. Then we went to see the rhinos. It seemed irritated but it was still awesome to see and when I turned around to leave, I immediately turned into a two year old. I saw a plane that I could go sit in; so guess what I did. I sat in the plane. I had to wait for some of the little kids to get out first then I was able to but before I went in the plane I was waiting outside with Nick, Austin, Dylan, Brianna, and Coraima. Well Austin and I didn’ t think anything of standing by this rhino statue. Well soon we learned that the rhino has a timer and every few minutes it sprays water …… from where it pees. So I got peed on by a rhino statue. After that my group went and waited by the sky ride over the zoo. Well I rode with Dylan and Nick. On the way to the top they stopped it. The breeze was amazing and the animals below us were beautiful. Then we had to get off at the top but were told to get right back on. At the top of the mountain you could see the valley below and the three rain storms that had formed. Well it had started to sprinkle so my group turned around and looked up the mountain and it was about to pour. Well we were on the way down and it started to get colder and windier. Then it hit us and we were being soaked. Well Dylan and Nick had jackets but I didn’ t so I was freezing and wet. We were not very far from the ground maybe 30 to 40 feet but they stopped the sky ride. After the rain got lighter they started it again. So by the end of that day I had been licked by a giraffe, peed on by a rhino, and given a freezing bath by Mother Nature. The next day I slept, ate, and drank on the way home. We got home at midnight. The whole trip was worth all the memories that were made.- Rebecca Loftin
