SOUTH
HACKENSACK
ESTABLISHED 1935
southhackensacknj.org
South Hackensack is the quintessential small
town. Residents can become acquainted
with their neighbors and play baseball in
the township’s Veteran’s Park. Not far up
the road, on Philips Avenue, people can
pay their respects to their public servants
at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The
town also provides easy access to Route
46 for commuters. Older students attend
neighboring Hackensack High School.

TEANECK
ESTABLISHED 1895

Teaneck, with a population of approximately
40,000, is widely regarded for its diversity. In
fact, it became the first town in the nation to
voluntarily integrate its public school system
in 1965. Teaneck is unique in its blend of
quiet suburban elements and access to culture,
shopping and restaurants, featuring sleepy, treelined residential neighborhoods, several venues
to see live music and theater performances, and
four bustling business districts. Teaneck High
School, affectionately called the “Castle on
the Hill,” stands as one of the last examples of
educational institutions built in the Collegiate
Gothic style developed in the 19th century.
