y t r Pa TIME Big Top Birthday CIRCUS-THEMED CELEBRATION BRINGS TOGETHER LIONS, TIGERS AND TREATS WRITTEN BY LAURA ADAMS STIANSEN PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF BASHFUL CAPTURES W hen Hannah Choi of Little Confetti Events was tasked with creat- ing a bright and bold birthday party for a little boy named Cameron, of Allendale, she put on her top hat and got to work. “What better theme is there than a circus,” Choi says. “It worked out perfectly as the venue was at a steakhouse with darker wood interior and the bright, fun colors and circus details added a more kid-friendly touch to the venue.” Choi didn’t need to jump through hoops when pulling the party together. After parents Anna and Peter shared a Pinterest board with her, she was inspired by a circus theme. “We told Hannah to let her imagination loose since we trusted her creative expertise,” Anna says. “We only had two requirements: first, it should be full of colors, life and playfulness as it was a 1-year-old’s birthday party. Second, incorporate animals, since my husband loves animals.” “My favorite part was capturing all of the different aspects of an actual circus,” Choi says. “We obviously couldn’t bring circus animals to the restaurant, but HandMek from Etsy created the most adorable circus animals, which were perfect for the party. We used these graphics throughout our signage and had the animals hanging from the balloons as centerpieces.” “We were so happy and amazed at how everything came together,” Anna says. “Hannah went above and beyond our expectations and every detail was meticulously thought out.” Featuring animal figurines, vintage ticket rolls, and red-and-white striped elements with pops of aqua, the party pulled together all the right circus elements – popcorn and Cracker Jack treats, pinwheels, balloons and face painting. It was a roaring success. ● 34 SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017 | (201) FAMILY
