Some have equal sides and parallel lines — symbolic of a modern relationship. Some are triangular, dispersing white light into a spectrum of beautiful colors. Regardless of any potential meaning, prisms also add a modern look for those seeking a contemporary style. Keren’s Party Cakes KEREN AVRAHAMI, CAKE DESIGNER TENAFLY, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY (201) 660-0656 KERENSPARTYCAKES.COM While planning her square-tiered wedding cake, Avrahami wanted to incorporate straight prism lines into a delicate design. “I love light colors like turquoise, peach and white for a wedding, and I wanted to include flowers because it’s romantic,” she says. An abundance of handcrafted roses cascade from the top, down to a line of roses atop a bold geometric bottom tier. To complement the soft look, scattered prism shapes add “a little bit of gold to the cake, which is very classic and elegant for weddings,” she says. The design would appeal to modern couples who are looking for different techniques, Avrahami says, noting that she also offers kosher cakes baked off-site in a certified kosher kitchen. 20 SUMMER/FALL 2018 | (201) BRIDE
