Due to the COVID-19 outbreak resulting in the
Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia,
the nation has been staying at home for the
previous weeks trying their best to follow the
rules. Though the order was simple and clear, this situation
has affected everyone in every aspect. The feeling of anxiety
during the whole time was unbearable. People have been
searching for a new job or opportunity and it has proven to
be a huge challenge.
Despite everything that is happening, everyone is seen
to be doing a variety of new activities every single day. From
wanting to fulfill any bucket lists during this free time to a
particular thing that everyone has been doing every minute
and every hour - which is online shopping.
“In one day, we can do around 50 to 200 deliveries.
I would say the delivery rate has increased to up to 30%
due to COVID-19 as more people choose to get their
groceries delivered to them instead of going out,” said Shah
Alam-based MyMarket business owner Sarah Salim to
StarLifeStyle Tech.
With the number of half-price sales of their favourite
brands and amazing new stuff that is available, it intrigues
people’s needs to shop there even more. In a day they could
spend on more than one item with just a click. According
to Pos Laju, online items have reached one of the highest
amounts in history; up to 850,000 items in a day.
