Under almost unbelievable conditions , the Celebration officials called the 14 finalists Into the ring for the Grand Championship . Rain was several inches deep on the track and the lights were on-again . off-again . Despite all these handicaps , EBONY ' S SENATOR and Marvin Wilson turned back the bids of all competitors including the final 6 in the last workout to win the highest honor in the walking horse domain . The reserve award went to SENSATIONAL SHADOW and Wallace Brandon , with third place going to GO BOY ' S BLACK ANGEL and Charlie Bobo . It is a great tribute to Marvin and his horse that they could overcome such deplorable ring conditions and still make a great show .
