Under almost unbelievable conditions, the Celebration officials called the 14 finalists Into the ring for the Grand Championship. Rain was several inches deep on the track and the lights were on-again. off-again. Despite all these handicaps, EBONY ' S SENATOR and Marvin Wilson turned back the bids of all competitors including the final 6 in the last workout to win the highest honor in the walking horse domain. The reserve award went to SENSATIONAL SHADOW and Wallace Brandon, with third place going to GO BOY ' S BLACK ANGEL and Charlie Bobo. It is a great tribute to Marvin and his horse that they could overcome such deplorable ring conditions and still make a great show.
