This filly, SUMMER SONG, had been in training with Kenneth Lindsey at the Buddy Hugh Stables. Ray Martin, Crossville, has a black filly, SHADOW’S BLACK GIRL, by SHADOW’S SUPERIOR, that is coming along nicely. George Witt has DAN’S GO BOY in top form. Owned by Beth Turney of Somerville, this is the horse that won the three-year-old gelding classes at the Celebra tion and at Montgomery. Beth was so happy she was in tears! Tim Bagwell, Corner, Alabama, has a new horse named HAWKS KISSING KIN. Tim will be showing this mare in the juvenile classes this season. Most of you remember Tim and his pony, STONEY BURKE, from last year. Tim’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bagwell, also have twin boys that will probably be hitting the show ring before too long. Triple T Farms, where the Bagwells live, is derived from the three boys’ names - Tim, Tommy and Terry. The Alabama Horseman’s Association is getting off to a good start with the first meeting held January 26. Anyone interested in joining may write to me for an application blank. I had a nice letter from Dr. William J. Lilly of Ash land, Ohio, paying tribute to some fine horses and good friends in Alabama. Dr. Lilly’s youngest daugh ter, Terry, wanted to learn to show Walking Horses so he moved his family and an old show mare, GO BOY’S FIREBIRD, to Gadsden, and placed Terry and the mare in the hands of L. M. Hilley. They had a good first season, and now the Lillys are getting deeper and deeper into the horse business. SUN’S WAR EAGLE and L. M. Hilley made a great showing in three-year-old classes last year. Dr. Lilly is now the owner or part>owner of nine horses since moving his one horse — and a lot of interest — to Alabama. C. A.
