SONNY SCRIVNER STABLES
The Sonny Scrivner Stables of Rogersville, Missouri is really flourishing. Sonny has some of the finest horses in Missouri and is anxious for the gate to open so that he may show some of his new stock.
Sonny has not one but three black stallions, and all of them are of stake caliber. PIDDLEY’ S BLACK ACE has already proved that he is a champion, and he has a record of ten blues this last season in both stake and amateur classes. PIDDLEY was shown in the amateur classes by owner Bob Bailey of Lebanon.
WALKAWAY BLACK KNIGHT was purchased by Bill Pickering, Jr. after the Celebration and brought home in time for Sonny to work for the Ozark show. KNIGHT, a black stallion with a terrific front end and running walk, captured the challenge trophy in the Walking Horse Championship there with Sonny in the saddle.
MACK K’ S MONEYMAKER, recently purchased by Bill Kissee of Ozark, is another beautiful black stallion. This horse has a terrific back end and has shown tremendous improvement this fall. He is by MIDNIGHT MACK K. Two more recent purchases were made by Bill Kissee. One of these is MACK K’ S MANNER, a beautiful dark chestnut three-year-old that will be hard to beat in the Junior classes next year. He is also by MIDNIGHT MACK K and seems to have plenty of ability passed on to him. The third newly-acquired horse is MARY ANN’ S PRIZE, a black coming two-year-old filly. She has just been started any many say she is doing more than some colts that have been in training for months.
Another outstanding horse at the stables is a bay stallion, BIG DEAL, owned by Gary Acker of Okla homa City and Dan Wiley. BIG DEAL is by BLACK ANGEL’ S MACK K. This bay coming three-year-old can rear back and running-walk with the best of them. He was shown sparingly last season due to a late start but he will be more than ready next season.
Among the other new members of the stable are three black fillies. MACK K’ S BLACK DUTCHESS is a full sister to BIG DEAL. She is owned by Martin Poole and is starting off with a bang. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Scott of Clarksville, Tennessee have two fine black fillies that are progressing rapidly. MERRY ANGEL is by BLACK ANGEL’ S MACK K and DARK DOLL is by NIGHT TRAIN. Both of these fillies are quiet, sensible, and move right with that back end up under them.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Kirk have a fine chestnut stallion at the Scrivner Stables. He is MERRY MIDNIGHT BOY E. Another fine chestnut is a SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS colt that belongs to Dr. Bob McCloy of Oklahoma City.
PANDA PINK CARNATION will also be showing in the three-year-old division next year. This filly really has a good front end and back end. She is by KING OF MIDNIGHT out of PANOLA. MIDNIGHT MACK K’ s mama. She certainly has the breeding, and her ability is showing through. Another fine threeyear-old filly is a blue roan by SUN’ S BLACK MAG IC L. M. MAGIC’ S GAY LADY is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Art Holloway.
