MASCOTS FOR UNIVERSITY OF
TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS
Following a pattern established twro years ago, the Ten
nessee Walking Horse Breeders Association arranged to
have an official Walking Horse “mascot” at every football
game played by the University of Tennessee “Big Orange”
Volunteers during the 1966 season. Mr. Pete Yokley,
Chairman of the Public Relations Committee of the As
sociation, made the arrangements. Mr. Yokley stated that
great care had been taken to insure “Big Orange” fans
of a good show horse and that different blood lines and
stables had been chosen for the honor of performing at
the games.
This year there were six home games in Knoxville and
four games on the road plus the Gator Bowl in Jackson
ville, Florida. Mascots and their riders for 1966 wrere:

MERRY SUNBURST, Fred Condry-up; GO BOY’S
CRIMSON TIDE, Wink Groover-up; SUN’S PLAYBOY,
