GO BOY’ S SHADOW- ■ •

MONARCH OF THE BREED
The seventeenth of this month, GO BOY’ S SHADOW will celebrate his fifteenth birthday. If we were marking this event as a wedding anniversary it would be in order to send him“ crystal,” as that is the prescribed gift for the fifteenth year. It is our opinion, however, that a stallion such as SHADOW demands something more fitting than a goblet or a vase. He, in fact, deserves a lot more than most of us realize. SHADOW has made a contribution to the modern-day Tennessee Walking Horse that is probably without par.
Everything about. SHADOW has been“ above average” since he was foaled. His sire was MERRY GO BOY, a head start to say the least. His dam presented another side of the top blood ledger. MERRY WALKER was highly recognized in her own right. These two outstanding horses, sire and dam, carried depth in fine breeding that would have been hard to beat fifteen year ago. In the last two generations of SHADOW’ S pedigree, we find fourteen Foundation Horses as well as several recognized
Standardbred and Thoroughbred stallions including GIOVANNI, JIM DANDY II, FRANCESCA and MINOR HEIR, not to mention our own ALLAN F-l five times. This is top breeding in anybodys book. How much this fine breeding had to do with the performance of SHADOW in the show ring is a question which has been discussed many times. His sire has been promoted as a“ seven times World Champion.” SHADOW himself was World Grand Champion two times, in 1955 and 1956,
an as a breeding stallion he appears to have the attributes necessary to pass along the“ quality, ability and
stamina” necessary for todays modern show horses. This is perhaps, the most significant contribution that SHADOW
has made to the Walking Horse World.
^HADOW is a beautiful horse, the epitome of what a alkmg Horse should be. He is a big horse, standing over sixteen hands and is solid black except for one white r,° n * S ^ar foot and a white star and a snip. On <
