WALKING MARES, FOUR-YEARS-OLD AND OVER
GO BOY’ S LITTLE MYSTERY proved very much in solid form to win the blue with Steve Hill up. The vote was spread in this class of top contenders. LITTLE MYSTERY received first by the call judge, second by Judge No. 2 and fifth by the referee giving her enough combined points for first place. Second place went to Harold Kennedy on a marc with perfect rhythm and a crowd-pleasing“ way-of-going”... SHADOW’ S GAY LADY. His win came with one second nod and two fourths from the“ powers-that-be.” Albert Rowland, on GO BOY’ S MEG, proved strong enough to tie third and GOLD SUN GOLDEN GIRL, with Sam Paschal up, took the fourth place spot. This was one of the fastest mare classes ever and all contenders made a strong bid for top honors.

Class No. 17 TWO-YEAR-OLD WALKING GELDINGS In the strongly contested two-year-old gelding class, SUN’ S JOE DIAMOND, ridden by Neil Robinson for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hamilton, Memphis, Tennessee, was declared the champion by virtue of his having received first place on the card of Judge No. 2, fourth place on the card of Judge No. 1, and seventh place on the card of the referee. Under the“ weighted judging” system this combination edged the placements of the other contestants and brought the blue ribbon to this promising young gelding. In Reserve position was FRANK’ S PRIDE, owned by Parnell and Robinson, Newbern and Whithaven, Tenn., and ridden by Phil Goodwin. MAID’ S MID NIGHT DUKE won third place for owners Mr. and Mrs. Dana W. Good, Bay City, Mich., and trainer Robert Burris. Fourth was SECRET’ S HONEY BOY, with Clarence Goodson up for owners Goodson and Hampton, Galax, Va. Placing fifth was PERFECTION’ S PIONEER, ridden expertly by Joe Webb for owners Wolfe and Castleberry, Benton, Harbor, Mich. This horse received a first place vote from the
