JAN WRIGHT ON DARK SHADOW
Climaxing another year of outstanding triumphs, eleven-
year-old Jan Wright, of Nacogdoches, Texas, won the Champion
ship in Walking Seat Equitation at the 1963 National Celebration.
Her victory in a large class of thirty-five talented entries, con
firmed what many observers have been saying: “Jan Wright
is the greatest young rider in the country.” With her favorite
mount, DARK SHADOW, Jan has won the hearts of thousands
at major shows throughout the South and the Southwest. Her
happy parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wright, are especially proud
of this championship, earned under precise rules of perform
ance by the rider, not the horse. Popular at home, as well as
in the show ring, Jan has been selected a cheerleader for her
school.
