MONTGOMERY SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP HORSE SHOW SLATED TO BE BIGGER & BETTER THAN EVER FOR , 63
Twenty-two Tennessee Walking Horse classes are scheduled for the 5- day Southern Championship Horse Show Nov . 5-9 in the Alabama State Coliseum at Montgomery . Prizes for the Championship Stake total $ 1,500 plus a permanent trophy and the State of Alabama Governor ’ s Trophy .
Judging Walking Horses classes will be Jimmy Waddell of Brownsville , Tcnn . Entries closed Oct . 19 . Showing is held rain or shine in a covered arena with stables enclosed . No post entries will be accepted after 12:00 Noon , Nov . 5 , officials announced .

Tuesday , Nov . 5 , 7p . m .— Two-Year- Old Mares ; Two-Year-Old Geldings ; Two-Year-Old Stallions ; Pleasure Walking Horses , no braces or boots ; Owner-Amateur Riders Over Fifty ;
Wednesday , Nov . 6 , 7 p . m .— Three- Ycar-Old Geldings ; Owner-Amateur Lady Riders ; Three-Year-Old Mares ;
TEXAS STATE FAIR SHOW ( Continued from Page 5 ) ing . Mr . and Mrs . J . Glenn Turner were hosts for this event , an annual sorial feature of the State Fair Show .
On Wednesday , after the show , the Turners were hosts for the Pan-American Exposition Day at their Circle T Ranch , and more than 1,200 visitors enjoyed an outdoor buffet dinner and horse show . Many hundreds of visitors from South of the Rio Grande , representing all countries of Latin and South America , attended this annual party .
Buddy Black took back to Mr . and Mrs . Penn Mohon , Covington , Tennessee , the blue ribbon award in the Junior Mare Class by giving SUN- DUST XMAS BELL an excellent ride . Second went to PRINCESS SUN DANCE , Jim Babb up for Dr . C . D . Gunter , Siloam Springs , Arkansas . Cathie Bailey , 17 , of Jackson , Mississippi , won blue ribbons in the Walking Seat preliminary and the Walking Seat Championship , and won another blue on SUNDUST QUEEN in the Walking Juvenile Class ( 13-19 ).
Miss Sharp won the Ladies Stake on her SHADOW ’ S BLAZE with Mrs . R . S . Barnwell , finishing reserve on her speedy SUN ’ S LIGHTNING ANN .
Buddy Black took the Junior Stallion- Gelding Class on GO BOY ’ S ACE for C . E . Bradshaw .

One of the finest shows in the nation in past years , the 1963 version promises to be the best ever . Mr . H . O . Davis , of Montgomery , is president and general chairman of the show .
Harold Kennedy rode SHADOW ’ S GAY LADY to the Walking Mare Stake triumph for Circle T Ranch ( making a total of 4 blue ribbons for the Circle T entries ). Jim Babb saddled MIGHTY SUNBEAM to reserve honors for H . C . Bailey , Jackson , Mississippi .
Debra Brandon placed second in the Juvenile Class ( 13-19 ) on GO BOOG­ ER GO . John Turner was second to Jan Wright in the younger Juvenile Stake on GO BOY ’ S CRACKER JACK .
Grace Steere , Dallas , won Walking Seat competition for 10 years old and under , with George S . Bayoud , Jr ., Garland , Texas , second . Gene Hayle of Dallas took honors in Walking Seat ( 11 to 14 years ) with Julie Buford of Garland second . The appearance of many new juvenile riders was a most encouraging feature of the show . Becca Brasher of Shreveport , Louisiana , was second to Cathie Bailey in Walking Seat ( 15-17 ).
John Diehl of far-away Jonesboro , Tennessee , competed strongly in several amateur events ; and his trainer , Ralph Livingston , also rode in professional classes . Diehl ’ s horses — THE REPLI­ CA and SUN ’ S IRIS — showed marked promise .
