The first atelier in Paris

1857: The opening of the first atelier in Paris, by Worth, marks the birth of high fashion, which coincides with the opening of the first atelier in Paris by Worth, the first modern stylist of the time.

The greatest evolution is in progress, with skirts that tend to widen to considerable measures and moving the volume of dress on the back bottom; to support the skirt, the crinoline is appearing; moreover, there is an underskirt formed by cages of light metallic wires to allow more movement.

New details are appearing, such as the armhole that is worn over the suit and allows you to move your arms even if you have tight sleeves. The shoes are characterized by low heels with square tips.

With the evolution of dresses, the sleeves are changing, too: they are becoming more adherent and longer. At the same time, the bodice of the dress has become different: in this period, the round necks prevail in sweaters.
