MUSICAL
Welcome to UCC everyone! We’ re the Musical Society on campus, and offer all things musical theatre to students! Throughout the academic year, we host workshops, musical movie nights and variety performance nights, as well as our big scale Spring musical. This year, we are heading into our fifth year as a society, having won Best New Society in our first year. Our previous productions include“ Songs for a New World”,“ Avenue Q”,“ Seussical the Musical”, and“ The Wedding Singer”, all of which played
to sellout audiences and were amazing fun to be involved in! Whether you love performing on stage, set design, working as part of the backstage crew, or anything else to do with musical theatre, UCC Musical Society is a great outlet for students and is a great way to meet and make friends with those who have the same interests as you! MYTHOLOGY
Ever wonder how J. R. R. Tolkien managed to come up with the endlessly baffling Tom Bombadil? Confused as to why there are cultures based on the worship of tinned food? Do you feel as if there is a hidden back story to the Thor movies that everyone knows but you? MythSoc is a society dedicated to delving into Pop culture and linking it back to ancient mythologies. We also look at more modern mythologies that have popped up over the past few decades to talk about why they evolved and why they inevitably decline. Want to know some of the more disturbing stories that have refused to fade into the void where they belong? MythSoc on Tuesdays is where to go. Every week there could be a panel on the most out-there ancient stories we can get our hands on. Or there could be a screening of something pop culture ridden with mythological references.
