UCC Geological Society is down to Earth ; we rock and we ’ re not just saying that ! We know the three types of rock are punk , hard and classical and we know if something is gneiss you shouldn ’ t take it for granite . Whether you ’ re a die-hard geology student or you just have an interest in our natural world , UCC Geological Society is the one for you . GeoSoc has been at the forefront of offering students a whole array of events in the last few years including trips to iconic Irish geological landmarks like the Cliffs of Moher , to movie screenings . We organise talks with resident and visiting scientists and explorers to allow an insight into the type of work the world of Geology has to offer .
From our annual Geoweek to our bake sales for local charities , our society has always been about involving the masses of our student body . This year sees the first annual Gold Rush competition commence . Explore the entire campus in search for treasures to win a tonne of earth-shattering prizes . GeoSoc aims to provide a foundation for UCC students to interact , gain knowledge and appreciation for the geological world and to provide a bridge for students and staff of the geological department . With course content focused talks , UCC geology students have another aspect to their studies in Cork . You ’ re guaranteed to come away from UCC GeoSoc having learned something new !

Guten Tag ! As you ’ ve probably figured out from the heading , we are the German society , celebrating all things Deutsch . So why might you want to join the German society this year ? Lesen Sie weiter ! Firstly , Stammtisch ’ s . These are our regular social events where we meet up and honestly just have a good laugh and chat . They ’ re great fun and don ’ t worry if you ’ re nervous about having to speak German excellently while you ’ re there , the events are very relaxed and there ’ s no pressure at all to not speak English if you don ’ t want to . Also , expect a lot of Haribo ’ s , pretzels and Milka chocolate from us , especially during our film screenings .
These usually take place every month or so and are an excellent way to immerse yourself in German culture and just chill out . On top of this , we ’ re always on hand to try and help you , the students , out with anything related to Erasmus as that can be quite daunting and confusing , the language and just anything German when possible . We hope at this stage you ’ re convinced to join us . We ’ re great craic like . Auf unser Party geht es hoch her .
