Message from the
Immediate Past Div. G Governor : 2014-2015
Warm heartfelt congratulations to the hardworking team and sincere thanks to the
delegates of the 2016 Division G Contest. You made every member proud of our
beloved division by having ACE to Greatness
Attitude. The real soul of a person can be seen though his attitude. As a leader you
can only lead your followers if you reciprocate the boldness of your characters. If
you need the respect from them then you have to respect their feelings as well as
their opinions, too. You cannot command nor give orders to them with arrogance.
But rather, keep your feet on the ground, be humble and always seek their insights.
Assess everyone’s needs with constant communication with them; communication
with compassion.
Commitment. In my journey to toastmasters, I always impart to other members this
question. When you joined in toastmasters is it driven by interest or commitment.
Most of the members answered both and few as commitment. First, I belonged
to those who chose both; as interest and commitment. However, as I go with my
toastmasters’ journey the satisfaction and fulfillment I gained from it is solely driven
by commitment. Why? It is because when you act a certain task out of commitment
whether you failed or succeed you can still have the level of satisfying and fulfilling
yourself. If you failed, you feel the challenge to bounce back and be fulfilled the next
time you came across the same situation in your life. Satisfied when you succeed,
even at times of most challenging situation; yes I did it. When trials came during my
Division G Governor’s post, I took it as a challenge bundled with commitment that
end up my office as of the one of the best divisions in District 79 for the program
year 2014-2015. Almost half of the clubs in the whole division are less active in
terms of educational and membership growth but what happened is the reverse
when all the clubs were renewed and almost of them got DCP points. As a bonus of
the commitment shared by my Division G family a new division was created in Azir
Region. DTM Mansour Alsherif shared the same commitment we had.
Excellence. How we measure excellence? I believe you can only measure or
gauge excellence when you fulfilled something above what you expected to be
done. When you dream to become a better speaker and a leader it is just at par
you want to enhance skills in speaking and leading. But when you envisioned to
be one of the Distinguished Toastmasters; then, you can tell to yourself that you
met the excellence. When you planned for a contest just for the sake to comply
with the rules of toastmasters then I don’t see any extra miles on it. But when you
arranged for a contest because you want to see your members laughing, enjoying
the contest and everyone is participating; then, you excel while serving them. The
keys to unlock excellence are the will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach
your full potential.
Again, congratulations to 2016 Division G Contest; ACE to Greatness.
Johnnygene Antonio Padillo, DTM
Immediate Past Division Governor.
