When school re-opened in January 1957 , Reverand Brother Lawrence took over the reins of St . Joseph ' s Institution . His predecessor , Brother Ignatius had done much to furnish St . officially declared opened by Mrs . J . Oei in 1952 , the centenary year of St . Joseph ' s Institution .
Since the war , more and more emphasis has been placed upon teaching aids in schools , particularly the visual ones . In this respect , St . Joseph ' s Institution was the first school in Singa ยท pore to give this aspect of teaching all its attention with the completion of the Audio-Visual Studio
Joseph ' s with whatever was required in the spiritual , moral , academic and physical education of the school .
An important event which took place during the directorship of Brother Lawrence was the visit of the Superior General of the Christian Brothers Schools , Brother Nicet Joseph on 20th June 1962 . To celebrate this historic ocassion , a grand dinner in 1956 . Air-conditioned and capable of seating was given in honour of his visit at the Singapore about 120 students , the funds for the building of the Studio were realised through the efforts of old boys and well-wishers .
Yet another landmark in the history of St . Joseph ' s Institution was the completion of the Badminton Hall in 1956 at a cost of $ 35,000 . Built between the Chapel and Anderson Building ,
Badminton Hall . It was well attended by over 1,000 guests .
Brother Lawrence left St . Joseph ' s Institution in December 1963 and was succeeded by Brother Justinian in January 1964 . Under his capable direction , St . Joseph ' s continued to maintain her high standards both in academic achievements it can also be used as a small gynasium besides as well as in the field of extra-curricular activities . badminton .
