Jessica Galway, Mahogany Williams, Sean Vitale( P) Reorient & Prevent: Using Video to Reduce Falls in Dementia Care Many hospitalized individuals with dementia find themselves waking up in an unfamiliar and startling setting. Due to confusion and the hospital environment, patients may try to get out of bed and can potentially fall. This innovation project focuses on preventing falls using a reorienting video which is triggered by their bed alarm and call bell. The video redirects them, instructs them to stay in bed, and informs them that they will be assisted shortly.
Riley Roque, Kiori Cruz, Divya Rajmohan( P) HealthSync: Connecting Patient Data, Streamlining Care Our innovation is a universal health data application that will merge a patient’ s health information into a single network that is accessible to both the patient and their health team. It will synthesize a patient’ s health history, labs, scans( X-rays, MRI, CT) with results, and more to streamline transfers of data to new healthcare networks instantaneously. It will also allow healthcare staff to make real-time updates on patient status to keep patients informed as they make their way through the healthcare system. Developing this application will improve patient accessibility, information, and continuum of care.
Shannon Shea, Colin Morris, Emma Turner( P) Optimizing Call Bell Response Times in Healthcare Settings Delays in call bell response times is a barrier to patient care and satisfaction that has been noticed in hospital settings. This innovation project focuses on implementing a call bell system which addresses the needs of the patient. By adding options to allow the patient to specify their current needs, response times can be improved. Patient care needs and acuity level can be prioritized which will help to reduce call bell response times and increase patient satisfaction.
