This paper examines the 2021 – 2022 MLB lockout and the 2011 NBA lockout, analyzing revenue losses, job disruptions, and financial consequences. The MLB lockout delayed the season but preserved all games, while the NBA lockout shortened the season, costing the league $ 400 million. Both led to lost wages, declining local business revenue, and reduced sponsorship earnings. Fan disengagement and long-term reputational damage also affected future profits. This study highlights the financial instability caused by labor disputes and the need for proactive negotiations.

The research project explores how players’ salaries affect all kinds of factors from revenue sales to merchandise revenue. In all sports, the players are a key factor. Age, the size of the team, and how successful team members were prior to receiving large contracts also are factors in salary outcomes. The ultimate goal for these sports teams is to become a successful franchise. This study looks at the role age plays on team members’ salaries.

This essay is going to dive into the difficulty of creating a sustainable environment while prices are increasing for individuals. The financial wellness of universities will become affected in a way that will build tension between the players and the athletic programs. Through research, we will pinpoint the ongoing issues studentathletes face and necessary funding for colleges to hand out in a sustainable manner. We hope to have a universe where the needs of the athlete and university sustainably work together.
