Construction activity hit a high note on the 10th and O Street Office Building in
late September when the project celebrated its topping out at a height of 10 stories . With skin nearly complete , indoor activities will increase over the coming months as the project team works toward completion just over a year from now .
When complete , the new office building will house 472,000 square feet of office space for approximately 1,250 State employees . The project incorporates space for committee hearings , caucus and conference committee meetings , and legislative and executive branch offices , as well as integrated parking . Designed to engage the surrounding community , this project will set a new standard in sustainability and flexibility for the State with goals for zero net energy and zero net carbon , and LEED Gold certification .
The 10th and O Street Office Building is a significant part of the solution in helping the State of California achieve its goals for the future of the Capitol , and the progressive design-build process continues to be a true collaboration between the State , Hensel Phelps and the entire design-build team .
