A super-talent who scored four WorldSBK podiums before injury interrupted the start of his‘ rookie’ WorldSBK season, none of you need an introduction to Miguel Oliveira. Especially at a Portuguese WorldSBK round.
A long-time MotoGP paddock regular, he looks at the all-time WorldSBK statistical GOAT as his greatest ever WorldSBK champion.“ I think, probably, Jonathan Rea, because in the recent era he won so many titles in a row. Six titles are quite a lot- so I would say Jonny, for sure.”
Miguel paid most attention to WorldSBK in the early‘ noughties’, it seems. So he goes for that as the most golden era in his own experience.
“ I loved those years between 2005-2008,” stated Oliveira.“ During this period I watched a lot of races. I had started racing and obviously I looked up to the World Championships, in MotoGP and WorldSBK. I loved to watch Max Biaggi, Troy Corser, Troy Bayliss- many riders that were a part of the field in those days. That was pretty cool.”
Speaking before the resumption of race action after the long summer break, Miguel makes an obvious- but totally understandable choice- about his own fondest memories so far in WorldSBK.
“ I have to go with my podiums!” said Miguel.“ It was what I was living, emotionally. I had watched some great races and great battles over the years in WorldSBK, but none of them can replace the feeling of being on the podium yourself.”
After his Portimao podium triple, who knows what Oliveira can do at the second Portuguese circuit on the 2026 WorldSBK calendar.

Especialmente numa ronda portuguesa do WorldSBK.
