Education is important because it helps reduce the risk of infection . A Technique used for universal precautions includes PPE . The protective barrier depends on the mode of transmission . Another precaution that is important is hand washing for disease prevention , but it can compromise the skin barrier , leading to irritation . Another means of precaution is to ensure that the environment remains clean to avoid contamination . There are several ways to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and proper disposal and management of contaminated waste .
Miranda Stueve ( P ) Presentation Title : Improving Telemetry Use to Decrease Alarm Fatigue Alarm fatigue occurs when providers experience an excessive number of alarms and become desensitized resulting in missed alarms or slow responses . Literature supports this occurrence in nursing and shows the negative impact on patient safety . This project will address innovative ways to improve telemetry monitoring to decrease false alarms and nonactionable alerts .
