California Construction and Industrial Materials Association
Robert Dugan – A business leader committed to innovation , diversity , and results
“ Robert ’ s leadership , flexibility and willingness to embrace diverse perspectives has made him a good fit to lead our materials industry .”
— Mary Teichert , ALF Senior Fellow

The California Construction and Industrial Materials Association ( CalCIMA ) is the statewide advocacy voice of the construction and industrial materials industry . With over 500 local operations throughout the state , CalCIMA ’ s members have been producing aggregate , concrete products , cement , asphalt and industrial minerals in California for over 100 years . As president and CEO , Robert Dugan has found that the ALF servant leadership principles , including innovation and embracing alternative perspectives , are key to the success of CalCIMA ’ s diversified membership . CalCIMA ’ s members produce materials that build our state ’ s infrastructure , including road , rail , bridge and water systems , as well as homes , schools and hospitals . They also assist in growing crops and livestock , and supply raw materials used in manufacturing consumer products from paint to technology for electric cars and windmills . “ Our members proudly produce the very foundation of our economy ,” Dugan says . Those same principles of collaborative leadership led Dugan to civic leadership roles with the Placer County Water Agency and the Sierra College Foundation . While PCWA has a primary water resource responsibility to the county ’ s residents , their collaborative approach has made them a significant player in regional and statewide water supply reliability . “ We are proud to lead on policies related to forest management and supply interconnectivity that allows us to partner with local , state and federal agencies throughout the state for the benefit of people , business and the environment ,” Dugan says . The Sierra College Foundation has been a significant catalyst in not only supporting student achievement but also facilitating higher education enrollment and success for students who otherwise may not see college as an option .
