Sierra Health Foundation promotes health and racial equity and justice in partnership with communities , organizations and leaders across California . With Sacramento and Fresno offices and more than 35 years of grantmaking experience , Sierra Health Foundation launched The Center at Sierra Health Foundation ( The Center ) in 2012 to leverage its leadership , operational and funding support to establish investment partnerships for deeper statewide impact . Kaying Hang joined Sierra Health Foundation more than eight years ago to help the Sacramento region prepare for Affordable Care Act implementation . Today , as Senior Vice President of Programs and Partnerships , she oversees the strategic direction of more than 25 programs and develops partnerships with philanthropy , government and community organizations to respond to challenges in our communities and opportunities to achieve health and racial equity .
Hang is also an executive leadership team member guiding the development and vision of Sierra Health Foundation and The Center . Already an accomplished leader , her skills have recently been enhanced as a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum ’ s Class XXIV . “ ALF has long had a powerful impact on the development of diverse leadership ,” Hang says . “ Being part of a multi-sector network of passionate and compassionate leaders — all committed to improving the region — is humbling .” As a first-generation Hmong refugee , Hang ’ s parents taught her the importance of service to family and community . “ I am privileged to serve alongside my colleagues , including our beloved president and CEO , Chet P . Hewitt , and countless community leaders in Sacramento , the San Joaquin Valley and throughout the state to create positive change ,” she says . Sierra Health Foundation and The Center are deeply committed to supporting communities across California as the state faces the impacts of COVID-19 . Hang concludes , “ We have been working with state and local partners to strengthen networks and grow our communities ’ capacity to tackle current and future crises . Where others may see challenges , we see opportunities . The community-centered infrastructure we ’ re building during the pandemic has the potential to create lasting resilience and greater health equity .”
