It come from walking around and I came across a store and it had black magic in the window on a jersey. At that time I ain’t know what the fuck black magic was at 8 years old, so I went home and looked that shit up and found out what it meant and thought, this is the best name for a rapper, so I said Fuck it! I’m going to be Black Magic. 100 Bars: How did growing up in St. Louis influence your music ? B magic: My music is St. Louis Period. Everything I see in St. Louis is exactly what I rap about. Its how I Live, St. Louis is my music. 100 Bars: To get your name buzzing on the streets did you have to go around battling people from different neighborhoods?? B magic: Nope. Not in St. Louis 100 Bars: How did you first get introduced into battle rap? B magic: Internet. Seen the shit on the internet. I saw that niggas had some lyrical ability and thought I should try it out. I never took the shit serious but I tried it out, got a little promotion off of it and the rest is history. 100 Bars: When was your first battle? B magic: August 2010. 100 Bars: Ever? B magic: Ever.. 100 Bars: Out the gate, you came in the game with alot of metaphors, and name flips. What is your writing process? B magic: I been rapping so long It just comes easy. If they give me a month to write ill be done within my first 5 days to a week. Ill be done all three of my rounds, the rest is preparation. 100 Bars: How did you get introduced to Street Status TV? B magic: My nigga Metta. He always been a battle rapper, He always been doing this shit. He had just got outta jail, So when I tried to see if I could actually do it and told him he hooked me up with Street Status.
