time of this awful war, as a result of her courageous compassion, she changed the
perspective of so many other people. I suggest to those of you who were not in
church on Sunday to get the DVD of that service, and I hope that what you see taking
place there will motivate you to realise the beauty of obedience.
Today as we conclude our series on feeding the hungry I trust that you will be
motivated to see people through different eyes, and to see the need of obedience to
the command of Christ whether it makes sense to us or not.It is people like this who,
according to Isaiah 58,get God’s attention. Won’t you read the verses below from
this amazing chapter and reflect on all that God would want for you as an individual
and us as a church to become
“Isaiah 58 people”.
“…and if you spend yourselves in
behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the
oppressed,
then your light will rise in the
darkness,
and your night will become like
the noonday.
The Lord will guide you always;
He will satisfy your needs in a
sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered
garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
Your people will rebuild the
ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old
foundations;
you will be called Repairer of
Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with
Dwellings.
