Anniversary ( Monday ), spectators experienced the flight of 50 various RVs - it was spectacular ( and only the start of the show ). While these shows were each unique and stunning , my favorite air show , hands-down , was the night air show . If you ’ ve never experienced a night air show , add it to your bucket list ! It ’ s so much more than afterburners and colored landing lights ( which is what I was expecting ). Imagine - choreographed aerobatics , fireworks ( some launched directly from the aircraft ... WOW ), light effects , music , and more . The finale included flight effects , fireworks , intense fireballs ( ground display ), and “ Don ’ t Stop Believing ” blaring through the loudspeakers . I was on cloud 9 .
Finally , I learned something the hard way . One of my biggest disappointments was when I tried to attend the STOL competition on Tuesday night . However , I arrived at a crowd so deep that this 5 ’ 7 ” spectator got lost in a sea of people . There was no chance to see these talented pilots ’ spectacular feats . I could feel the excitement in the air , but that was the extent of my experience . The lesson here was to plan and show up early !
