There were so many incredible aircraft on the grounds . Everything from homebuilt aircraft , vintage airplanes , warbirds , ultralights , seaplanes , powered parachutes , lighterthan-air aircraft ( YES , hot air balloons ), aerobatic aircraft , and more . Two of the most unique builds I saw included : Mike Patey ’ s bush plane named “ Scrappy .” This was indeed one of a kind . It features “ Mike ’ s own transforming airfoil , solar power covered wings , dynamic controllable suspension and 2 eBike motorcycles attached under each wing .” ( www . mikepatey . com )
Any outdoor adventurist or aviation enthusiast would love to take this for a flight . The other revolutionary build that caught my eye was the Opener Blackfly . This is a “ futuristic electrical vertical take-off and landing vehicle .” ( opener . aero . com ) It reminded me of the Jetsons in the present day .
Next , EAA put on daily air shows showcasing fascinating aircraft ( imagine warbirds , aerobatics , ultra-lights , helicopters ( that fly upside down ), jumpers , and more ). And each day was uniquely different . For instance , in celebrating Van ’ s 50th
