Chatham County Travels at the ‘Speed of Nature’

it was to
return
home to Chatham County after a high-speed,
white-knuckled
trip to Dallas,
where all you
see is the back of
laptop computers
and the tops of
people’s heads as
they focus nosefirst into their
IPhones!
I couldn’t wait to return to my Chatham front porch rocking chair. I could now
slow down and think again - and enjoy the
cool early days of autumn calmly, face-to-face
again, with neighbors and friends.
We have a special pace here in
Chatham County that is both healthy and
friendly, should we prefer this choice. I
call it the ‘Speed of Nature’. It is the world
into which we were born – not one technology has unnaturally forced us into.
Although the ever-changing technology of the Research Triangle is accessible within just a stone’s throw away, in
Chatham County we can choose to take it
a little slower – spending time in our gardens, taking our walks in the parks, and
smiling at neighbors as we pass them on
the sidewalks.
We will, perhaps, live longer as
