SAFE Credit Union welcomes Hector Madueno as their financial education manager . He now guides SAFE ’ s financial education team , which provides no-cost webinars and workshops on financial topics ranging from buying a home , paying off debt , paying for college , basics of trusts , preparing for retirement , and other money-centered topics .
Madueno ’ s team also administers SAFE ’ s Workplace Financial Wellness program , which supports employers in providing financial wellness services to employees to reduce their financial stress and keep them more engaged on the job .
Excited to be building his team and shaping strategies and goals , Madueno says , “ Financial education is a core part of SAFE ’ s mission to show people how they can control their finances rather than their finances controlling them . A lack of financial literacy can have devastating consequences , and our goal is to prevent that by providing essential knowledge .”
Madueno has extensive experience in the credit union realm , from teller to senior
leadership , and has eagerly taken on opportunities to provide financial literacy initiatives to the public . “ Though I started in June , I already feel at home and eager to bring my enthusiasm for our mission to SAFE ’ s members and the communities we serve .”
Madueno will be holding more in-person financial wellness workshops for people of all ages and creating new programs and materials to benefit all members , regardless of age or life stage . He also plans to expand SAFE ’ s financial education scope to more organizations working with underrepresented neighborhoods to bring them useful financial insights , as well as provide education on trends and the latest economic news .
