It ’ s only fitting that one of Super Burrito ’ s most popular dishes is their handmade tamales . The family-owned restaurant was founded as The Tamale Factory in 1989 by current owner Alvaro Delgado Jr .’ s grandmother and uncle . When his dad Alvaro Delgado Sr . bought it in 1996 , he renamed it Super Burrito but kept the menu the same to make sure customers still felt at home . When Delgado Jr . purchased the business from his dad this summer , he followed suit , making sure the menu ’ s giant burritos — which he says are “ the biggest in town ” — carne asada , weekend menudo , homemade corn tortillas and , of course , handmade tamales keep the family food tradition alive .
