The company flies on contract for the U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire and other state agencies and, though headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, has maintenance facilities and most of its operations at McClellan. “We selected McClellan because of its large hangars and to be close to our big customers,” says Airstrike Firefighters CEO Bill Douglass. Douglass points to the unique tailoring offered to tenants. “McClellan has been terrific, helping us network with vendors and potential customers and providing just the right amount of space that lets us grow without excess expense,” Douglass says. “We started renting one quarter of a hangar and now rent half and some additional space for a machine shop and offices. Eventually, we’ll probably rent the whole hangar. You won’t get that flexibility anywhere else.” McClellan Jet Services has five community hangars that help provide varying space to help companies grow. “Tenants can use a portion of our FBO community hangars then move to their own hangar, or if downsizing, can move from their hangar back to the FBO,” says Appleton. “Tenants choose us over other airports because of that customized service, ample space, 24/7 availability and competitive prices.
