The latest state employment figures show there are 77,900 people working on construction projects in the Greater Sacramento area , which is 4.3 percent more than last year . Even with the challenges of broken supply chains , rising material costs and interest rates , there is a lot of nail pounding and dirt flying throughout the Capital Region .
Population growth , including immigration from the Bay Area , is one reason for the building frenzy . Other factors , including the continued growth of e-commerce , corporate response to broken supply chains and a deadline seven years down the road to meet upgraded earthquake standards for health care , are contributing to a busy construction season across all sectors .
