The 4.226km long Misano World Circuit‘ Marco Simoncelli’ venue is a perennial favourite for everyone involved in WorldSBK. Misano, and its many nearby holiday resorts in June? What is not to love … But, what’ s it like to do a racing lap around this now historic venue?

T1 – T3

T1 has been a place of incident and drama so many times in the past that it is maybe only rivalled by the very slow left-hand flick that takes you out towards T3’ s longer and more open righthander. The whole Variante del Parco section is very tricky.

La curva 1 in passato è stata così tante volte teatro di incidenti e di colpi di scena che forse è superata solo dalla lenta curva a sinistra, quella che porta alla più lunga e aperta curva a destra della 3. L’ intera sezione denominata Variante del Parco è molto insidiosa.

A double right- nearly a hairpin- at the Rio section is another right-handed challenge, which makes the left-handed T6 worthy of concentration as you squirt the power on for what is( not quite) the next straight.

Una doppia curva a destra- quasi un tornante- nella sezione Rio è un’ altra sfida a destra, che rende la curva 6 a sinistra degna della massima concentrazione mentre si apre il gas per affrontare quello che è il( quasi) rettilineo successivo.

A particularly wide-feeling section of track leads to the long kink of T7. Many racing lines are possible here, but the only one that matters is the one entering the almost parabolic Quercia left. It’ s one of those corners where any overtaking manoeuvre made on the way in can be rebuffed on the cut-back. This corner, and its exit, feel like they are as wide as the whole nearby A14 Autostrada. T9 is a kink that leads to a definite hairpin at T10.

Un tratto di pista particolarmente ampio conduce alla lunga curva della T7. Qui sono possibili diverse traiettorie, ma l’ unica che conta è quella che immette nella curva quasi parabolica della Quercia, a sinistra. È una di quelle curve in cui qualsiasi tentativo di sorpasso effettuato in ingresso può essere poi respinto in uscita. Questa curva, e la sua uscita, sembrano larghe quanto l’ intera vicina autostrada A14. La T9 è una curva che immette in un tornante a gomito alla T10.
