On the Rise Campaign
Sacramento State ’ s On the Rise campaign supports students through increased financial aid and student programs , advances knowledge through innovative learning approaches , and strengthens the greater community .
“ This is Sacramento State ’ s first-ever major campaign and it ’ s a comprehensive campaign , as opposed to a capital campaign that targets just one project ,” says Bernice Bass de Martinez , special assistant to the Dean of the College of Arts and Letters and Sacramento State Foundation board member . “ We ’ re committed to raise funds toward a multitude of programs and projects , university-wide , to uplift and advance students .”
So far , $ 195 million has been raised through the private phase , moving the campaign more than 85 % of the way toward its goal of $ 225 million . The campaign ’ s public phase was launched in March , which Bass de Martinez says will give everyone an opportunity to be part of the giving .
The campaign ’ s funds are already in use in a variety of ways , from scholarships to equipping the university ’ s new Ernest E . Tschannen Science Complex and breaking ground on its new Placer Center , a 300-acre second Sac State location designed to meet western Placer County ’ s growth .
“ This campaign enables individuals with Sacramento State degrees to give back and help make a difference in the community ,” Bass de Martinez says . “ The majority of Sacramento State graduates stay in the region , so contributing to more exposure and engagement for the university makes the region better for all of us .”
