The BBC
The BBC (the British
Broadcasting Corporation)
is a state-owned
broadcasting organisation,
started in the 1920s. It is
funded by the income from
the TV licence fee. In the
UK, there is a law that every
household must pay around
£147 a year to watch
television (BBC or not) or
any programmes on the
BBC iPlayer. Even if you are
blind, you will still have to
pay 50% of the amount.
This money allows the BBC
to air without commercials
and produce educational
programmes and
documentaries.
