OLSEN THIELEN CPAS AND ADVISORS CELEBRATES 100 YEARS
Olsen Thielen & Co ., Ltd ., celebrates 100 years in business this year , and VHEDC is proud to work in partnership with the company to serve the community .

Olsen Thielen invites VHEDC investors to its “ Women in Business ” sessions as well as its informative “ Coffee Talks .” In addition , Brian Deuel , an audit manager at Olsen Thielen , currently serves as VHEDC ’ s treasurer and sits on the VHEDC Board of Directors .
The company ’ s humble roots date back to 1921 when Tom Macoubrey came to America from England as a young man and worked for one of the Midwest ’ s earliest telephone companies before it was bought by Northwestern Bell . With his connections in the telephone industry , Macoubrey used his natural talent for numbers to establish an accounting firm in St . Paul in 1921 , T . C . Macoubrey and Company .
Reynold Thielen became an employee in 1953 , almost one year after meeting Macoubrey at his mother-in-law ’ s funeral . His future partner , Bob Olsen , joined the firm in 1954 after assisting the company with monthly statements for a new client and taking over all certified audits . Within three years ,
Macoubrey decided to retire , and asked Olsen and Thielen to buy him out .
Business growth stemming primarily from the telephone industry , health care , waste haulers and real estate resulted in Olsen Thielen ’ s relocation in 1971 to a facility in Little Canada . In the early 1980s , Olsen Thielen expanded to serve clients in the Minneapolis area , and now has an additional office in Eden Prairie .
Reynold Thielen retired in 1984 and Bob Olsen retired in 1995 . By 2008 , the firm had outgrown the Little Canada facility and relocated to their current location in the Roseville area .
Today , Olsen Thielen provides management advisory services , auditing and accounting services and tax services for both businesses and individuals . The company ’ s client base largely revolves around the Telecom Industry , Nonprofits and Manufacturers . It also has a Tax Department that handles both corporate and personal tax returns .
Deuel has been with the company since 2012 , which he pointed out is a fairly short amount of time . “ We have a number of employees who have been with us for 30 years or more , and are now serving second and even third generation leaders of local businesses ,” he said .
In addition to providing a high level of personalized service to clients , staff and management at Olsen Thielen are also dedicated to serving the community . Not only is the company active with VHEDC , it is involved with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce , White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce , Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce and several other companies and Nonprofits that serve the community .
