It’s also World Mental Health Day in October. What does “Black Health and Wellness,” mean when considering mental health?

“Black Health and Wellness,” is addressing the challenges that specifically affect those from the Black community, this can be to do with stigma within the black community towards specific health issues, culturally specific pressures from within a community that lead to a decline in mental health or tackling prejudice from those outside the black community that can lead to a reduction in the health care offered to those within the black community.

What comes to mind when I say the words Black Joy to you?

Radiance, pride, happiness, family, community, music and togetherness

What Black creators, organisations, or movements inspire/empower you?

Steve McQueen, Michaela Coel and Dawn Butler

What is your favourite Black TV show? Or your favourite Black talent in TV and why?

Don't Hate the Playaz on ITV2 and The Rap Game UK on BBC3. For Talent it’s Michaela Coel who is incredibly talented but also doesn’t appear to try to conform to any standard and is authentically herself. Judi Love brings the laughter and Charlene White is an example that Black people can do more than just entertain on TV.

What do you enjoy about your job?  

I get the opportunity to give other people a helping hand in their career.

What are your top tips for Black talent in TV to get ahead in the industry?

Don’t prejudge a situation before going into it, try and leave any previous negative experience at the door and remain open minded.
